To simply hate your ememy and love your neighbor is something that is of natural inclination. It doesn’t require progression or change for your self or your character.
Through action, speech, and thought, you give help and positive reinforcement to something that you would otherwise refuse to do…To love your enemy…to help those who would otherwise do the opposite to you..is an act that is unnatural, something that requires more energy and personal devotion to do. It can be rewarding for yourself and for the future of that person.
Perhaps that person (enemy) has problems at home, or is dealing with personal problems. Your kindness can cause an upheaval in their perception of the world…one kindness at a time…
Sometimes we can’t see the result in a material fashion. Perhaps it may change the future corse of events, or perhaps it could change how that person (enemy) deals with things in the future…for good.
You may look at this in a cynical light. I understand that totally. I am cynical and realist in my perception of real life situations. But I am an idealist too. There are things that work. Sometimes they don’t. But the effort is worth it.
