Twilight Zone Becomes Graphic Novel, I’m in Happy Zone!

theafter1If you didn’t know, Twilight Zone has been one of my all time favorite shows since my dad introduced it to me on Nick at Nite, when I was about 9 years old. Since then, I’d watch Twilight Zone until I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I’m also an avid Graphic Novel reader and comic fiend. And to think of the two loves of mine combining -OH MY! Well, here’s the scoop -

The Savannah College of Art and Design (http://www.scad.edu) along with Walker & Co. are releasing the graphic novel series, “Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone”, which will be the only graphic novel series based on the legendary show. The first two of eight graphic novels will be published this fall: “Walking Distance” and “The After Hours”. What I love about these novels is that they will be based on the original, unedited scripts written by Rod Serling. No chopping and cutting up the good parts!

SCAD students, faculty, and alumni created all the original artwork for the novels, as well as the title treatments on the cover.

I suspect my husband, Rod Serling, the ‘father’ of ‘The Twilight Zone,’ would wholeheartedly approve of this ‘new dimension’ of his stories. The adaptations and fine graphic pictures have truly caught the feeling and climate of that wondrous world of imagination,” said Serling’s widow, Carol.

What I love about this translation into graphic narrative is it’s ability to involve the elaborate storyboarding and details that would have never been able to be transmuted onto the 1960’s soundstage.

Now they can offer up Rod Serling’s stories in full and unedited, providing for an exciting experience that we’ve never had before!

  1. I’m not sure how I feel about this. I’m not sure how Rod Sterling would feel about this. I’m amused, but slightly uneasy. I may need to find a novel and have a read before I really pass judgment though.

  2. I can’t wait to get my hands on these!!! I own just a few graphic novels (Batman) but I was weened on the Twilight Zone. This concept is just too awesome to skip on my Christmas List.
