Young Artists

At LULU.com, I offer guides for artists on promoting their work on the web. One of my most exciting additions is for kids 5-25 who want to learn how to start their art career. At any age it’s possible, and so I give you some advice and a few tools to start you off on the right path. I’ve had this up for a while, but forgot about it. Until I get real publishing, it’s available direct from me.

When I was younger, I was desperate to learn. Seeing kids on television starting their own business was frustrating enough, but to be an artist, that was a dream I wasn’t so sure was going to become reality. Even as I wrote to Disney Animation studios and Oprah about my endeavors, all that hard work I had put into practicing, learning, and competing would probably end up as some past hobby that would never become anything. I’ve learned that if I only had these tools, I might have been able to do more at a young age. Anything is possible and if we just realize that we can do anything and start anywhere with a little savvy and creativity, our dreams will come true.

  1. Oh gosh, that’s so great. My 10 month-old ‘drew’ her first picture today. I gave her a green and a blue crayon and (after realizing they weren’t very tasty) she put them on the paper and emphatically started scribbling! EMPHATICALLY, I say! When she saw that the little things (crayons) created something, she went nuts. Can’t wait to guide her if she wants to do more when she’s older.
